CRITERIA FOR JUDGING WOMEN'S BIKINI COMPETITORS

Criteria for Judging Female Physiques

    Muscularity - the amount of muscle will vary between the divisions.

    Condition will vary depending on the division.

    Symmetry and Balance

    Presentation (Posing).

Bikini athletes should display:

    A foundation of muscle which gives shape to the female body.

    Full round glutes with a slight separation between the hamstring and glute area.

    Small amount of roundness in the delts.

    Conditioned core.

    Overall look - hair, makeup, suit and tan.

Bikini athletes should NOT display:

    Muscular density seen in a Figure physique.

    Squared glutes.

    Muscle separation seen in Figure competitors.

    Graininess.

    Striations anywhere.

Bikini Competitor Rules

   Competitors will compete in a two-piece bikini "suit" and in high heels.

   The bottom of the suit must be V-shaped.

   Thongs are not permitted.

   Competitors can compete in an off the rack suit.

   All suits must be in good taste.

   Competitors may wear jewelry.

   Athletes will be warned about improper suits and are advised to bring two suits to check-ins.

   If the front of the suit bottom is too low or the back of the suit does not have enougt coverage, then the Head Judge has authority to direct that the competitor change her bikini, failing which the competitor may be disqualified.

   Athletes will be scored down if the suit is not up to standard

   The competitor's number may be attached to either side of the suit bottom to ensure visibility of your competitor number to the judges.

    The excessive application of oils, moisturizers, skin creams, tanning creams and like products is prohibited and may be used in moderation. The application of tanning products must produce a natural tone so as to give the appearance of a natural tan. Products that produce an unnaturally coloured tone, with an orange, yellow, red, green or gold hue, are prohibited . Bronzing agents that produce a metallic look are also prohibited.

    Competitors are prohibited from presenting themselves in any sort of a vulgar, obscene, profane, indecent, lewd, lascivious, repugnant, shocking or offensive manner, as determined by the event promoter and/or one or more of the event judges in their sole and absolute discretion. Competitors unequivocally agree to accept the decisions of event promoters and/or event judges in this regard. If a competitor is not willing to unequivocally agree to accept the decision of event promoters and/or event judges in this regard, the competitor should not register to compete in any events.

    If any of the above rules are not followed, the competitor will not be allowed to compete and no refunds will be issued.

Check-Ins

At check-ins, competitors will be heighted.

Backstage

   The only people permitted in the backstage area are competitors, expediters, CPA officials, CPA Media & those who are approved to purchase a Backstage Pass. Alcohol is not permitted in the backstage area.

Height Classes

A bikini competition may be divided in the following height classes.

2 Classes

Class A Up to and including 5’4” (163 cm)
Class B Over 5’4” (163 cm)

3 Classes

Class A Up to and including 5’4” (163 cm)
Class B Up to and including 5’6 (163 cm)
Class C Over 5’6” (168 cm)

4 Classes

Class A Up to and including 5’2” (157 cm)
Class B Up to and including 5’4” (163 cm)
Class C Up to and including 5’6” (168 cm)
Class D Over 5’6” (168 cm)

6 Classes

Class A Up to and including 5’1” (155 cm)
Class B Uup to and including 5’2-1/2” (159 cm)
Class C Up to and including 5’4” (163 cm)
Class D Up to and including 5’5-1/2” (166 cm)
Class E Up to and including 5’7” (170 cm)
Class F Over 5’7 (170 cm)"

8 Classes

Class A Up to and including 5’1” (155 cm)
Class B Up to and including 5’2” (157 cm)
Class C Up to and including 5’3” (160 cm)
Class D Up to and including 5’4” (163 cm)
Class E Up to and including 5’5” (165 cm)
Class F Up to and including 5’6” (168 cm)
Class G Up to and including 5’7” 170 cm)
Class H Over 5’7” (170 cm)

Bikini Competition Format (Judging)

Presentation

   Competitors are called onstage in groups in numerical order and under the direction of the Head Judge, perform the front and back pose.

   Each competitor is then called onstage individually in numerical order and has up to a maximum of 20 seconds to perform a routine. The routine consists of front and back poses.

    All competitors are then called back onstage and line up on diagonal lines at stage left and right. Centre stage is left open for callouts.

    The Head Judge then directs selected competitors through the callouts, where the selected competitors are compared against each other in the front and back turns. The number and placement of competitors is at the discretion of the Head Judge..

    Under the direction of the Head Judge, the Model Walk is performed as follows:

    From a front pose, turn 180 degrees towards the rear of the stage and adopt a back pose.

    Walk to the rear of the stage and pause.

    Turn 180 degrees towards the front of the stage and walk back to the centre line.

Bikini Competition Format (Finals)

    Each competitor may be called onstage individually in numerical order in a two-piece bikini and high heels and will perform their routine as instructed by the expeditors.

    Depending on the number of competitors, the Head Judge and promoter may decide that only the top finalists shall perform the Model Walk.

    If a confirmation round is required, the competitors shall be called onstage and under the direction of the Head Judge compared in groups while performing the front and back stance.

    For the overall title only, the top finalists shall perform the front and back stance under the direction of the Head Judge.

Scoring

   The Judging is scored 100%. The Finals are scored only if a judged confirmation round is required.

   Ties are broken using the Relative Placement method..
